Paul Levinsohn’s educational background consists of an undergraduate degree, which he earned from Duke University. Mr. Levinsohn also earned his J.D. and M.A. (political science) from Duke. During law school, Mr. Levinsohn became a member of the Duke Law Journal, and served a three-year term on the Duke University Board of Trustees.
Paul is the Managing Partner of the New York City Regional Center (“NYCRCâ€). The NYCRC was approved by the Department of Homeland Security to raise and invest foreign capital in areas of high unemployment throughout New York City. The goal of the NYCRC is to create jobs.
Paul has been involved in a number of real estate and private equity transactions in the past 15 years. Over the past few years, Paul has bought and sold more than 200 retail properties to public REITs as well as individuals. His experience has helped him negotiate and obtain financing for a diverse range of real estate investments.
In addition to his real estate expertise, Paul has been involved in various private equity transactions throughout the course of his career. In 2004, Paul, along with other investors, bought and privatized one of the largest convenience store/gas station chains in the northeast. The company was previously listed on the American Stock Exchange. Paul sold his position in the company in 2008. Recently, Paul purchased the assets of a New England based health supplement company, which distributes its products to large retailers such as Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, and Vitamin Shoppe.
Mr. Levinsohn has also contributed much of his time to public service. He was appointed in 2002 to be the Chief Counsel to the Governor of New Jersey. His duties included the oversight of a staff of twenty-one attorneys and coordination of all legal operations for the Governor’s Office.
Before entering law school, Paul taught American History in a Warren County, North Carolina high school in the Teacher for America program. This program places teachers in rural and inner-city school districts throughout the country.
